Information for Liver Transplant Recipients writing to their Donor Family
This section of the website is to provide you with some ideas if you wish to write to your donor family, now or in the near future. It must be stressed that it is your choice whether to write or not, and the timing of the letter is whenever you feel comfortable and ready to write.
It is important to point out that all donor families are given some brief information regarding the transplanted recipients post donation, such as recipient’s age, sex, diagnosis and length of time spent on the waiting list.
Main points to remember
Use your forename only.
Do not use your address on the letter/card.
If possible, keep the letter brief.
All letters/cards are checked by the Transplant Co-ordinators to ensure the recommended guidelines are adhered to. Once completed the letter can be sent to the Transplant Co-ordinators office or handed in when you attend out patients.
